Get to know Core and Fringe Vocabulary.
What You'll Learn in this Video
Learn about the two key types of words that make up AAC vocabulary.
Core vocabulary = the high-frequency words that make up about 80% of what we use
Examples of Core Words – I, like, what, the, go, etc.
Fringe vocabulary = the objects and ideas that make things more specific
Examples of Fringe Words – pizza, baseball, theater
In AAC Core words are usually on the top pages. Fringe Words are in folders organized by ideas.
