I have a whole range of kids I work with, all with different levels. Here’s a cool layout I did for Nikki.
Nikki’s got great energy and can really keep things going with Talk Suite, moving deeper and deeper into conversations. And so we’ve created a page that really supports that! I moved a few of the Core Words to the second core page. And then put a column of Communication Modes onto the home page. And see how they get her deeper and deeper into a conversation.
First, I ask her if she’s ready for coloring. And then she goes right to Quick Chat to let me know that, “Yes,” she is. Second we go to the Coloring area in Talk Topics and really get into the activity. Third, at some point, I always ask her how she’s feeling today and she goes right to Quick Topics and Emotions. Finally, when we’re ready to do something else, she goes to My Stuff and lets me know what she wants to do next.
Because there are Talk Topics for everything from Coloring to Eating to Playdates, we can repeat the same routine and also change it up!
