Core vs. Fringe Vocabulary
In AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication), balancing core and fringe vocabulary is key. Core words provide the foundation for everyday conversation, while fringe words help personalize communication to reflect individual interests and needs. Teaching both allows AAC users to communicate more effectively and flexibly across different situations.
Core Words

Fringe Vocabulary
Low-frequency words used in specific contexts
